Is there a concensus about the volume of throws per training session for the shot? I coach high school throwers and always have alot of beginners who need lots of technique work. Currently, we throw 3 or 4 days/wk with a day off before a meet. Our throwing portion of our workouts look like this:
General body warm-up
10 Standing Throws
10 Standing Throws with heavy shot (12lb/girls, 16lb/guys)
6-8 Step through throws emphasizing staying back and hitting correct power position
10-12 full throws
I will pull out 2-3 throwers at a time to do technique drills w/out the shot while everyone else is throwing. I generally work with @ dozen throwers and have one ring. They lift during an athletic period or after we throw 3-4 / wk.
Is this enough throws? Too much? About right?
Thanks,

Read Don Babbitt's article part II on throwing. He recommends on how many throws per day.
