Roughly how long does it take to see the results of late season conditioning workouts in a race? Some of mine seem a bit weak still in their races but we are in conference championships right now. Regionals is next week starting on Wednesday and State the next weekend.
Also, what should the ...

Help me quick!
Issue ; I have a sprinter who is about 5 ft. tall and maybe an inch less. She is very powerful and has run under 12 seconds in the 100. Last year she had a powerful start but would raise her head at about 4-5 steps into the race. Problem is, she would barely maintain her speed towards the end of ...

Tight Glutes & Shin Splints
Many of my runners are complaining of tight glutes and hams after interval workouts. I want to either slow the pace or give longer rest in between. Which one will have a greater impact? Out of those runners, two are twins who said they have both dealt with tight glutes after the 200 for the last ...

Using Indoor Times as a Gauge
I know that there are many factors involved that will not allow this to be to an exact science. But... roughly, what is the difference in times from the indoor 200 and 400 and the same events outdoors?
Also, I have seen some consistency in adding roughly 3.5 - 4.0 seconds onto the indoor 60 meters ...

Acceleration Phase
I know I always ask very specific questions but here I go again.
In the 60's the sprinters used a stay low approach to sprinting the 100 and 200. There were some fast times, but not like current sprinters are running on a world level. By the 80's, Charlie Francis had implemented a very different ...

Olympic Fly Zone
The sprint coach I ran under and asstisted with sprints for over 12 years used an Olympic fly zone for the 4x100. It would make the average joe sprinter look like Carl Lewis. Have you used this technique and do you have any opinions on it?

Potential Record Holder
:D I happen to have one the best kept secrets in the state under my coaching. Everyone knows she is fast but I see more flaws in her mechanics than in a bootleg dvd.
Most pronounced is slamming of her feet into the ground instead of a clawing action. I believe Seagraves describes this mechanic in ...

400 and 800 Trade Offs In Protest
:x I am under a new coach and school where the head coach feels the 400 meter runners can switch off with the 800 runners in workouts. I believe that an 800 person can come down to the sprints to work on some mechanics and speed training. However, I protest sending my 400 runners to heel-toe country ...

400m Back-to-Back Events, Weight Training & Nutrition
